Three Modeling Approaches to Instrument Design

Computer sound synthesis is becoming increasingly attractive to a wide range of musicians. On one hand and with very few exceptions, manufacturers of mainstream synthesizers have not been able to produce many established powerful synthesis techniques on an industrial scale. On the other hand, however, the sound processing power of the personal computer is increasing, and is becoming more affordable. Computers are highly programmable and any personal computer will soon be able to run Csound in real-time, capable of synthesizing sounds using any technique that one could possibly imagine.
